3DOrgan.com is an independent reference on 3D organ printing, bioprinting technology and tissue engineering. It exists because the gap between what bioprinting can actually do and what headlines say it can do is unusually wide, and someone should keep track of it.
What this site covers
Four things, in order of how much work goes into them:
- Explaining the technology. How bioprinting works, what bioinks are made of, and why the physics and biology impose the limits they do. Start here.
- Tracking what has genuinely been achieved. An organ-by-organ status report that distinguishes between laboratory results, animal studies, clinical trials and routine care — distinctions that press coverage frequently collapses.
- Mapping the industry. A directory of the companies building printers, bioinks and tissue products.
- Aggregating news. An automatically updated feed of recent bioprinting coverage.
How the content is written
A few principles govern everything here.
Claims are anchored to specific published work. Where a milestone is described, the research group, institution and approximate date are named so a reader can go and check it. Vague attributions such as "scientists have printed" are avoided.
Stage is always stated. There is an enormous difference between a construct that worked in a dish, one that worked in a mouse, one in a clinical trial, and one in routine use. Every claim on this site is labelled with which of those it is.
Numbers are given as ranges or with sources. Cell viability figures, resolution limits and waiting-list statistics all vary by method, laboratory and year. Where a precise figure would imply more certainty than exists, a range is given instead.
Uncertainty is stated rather than smoothed over. When the honest answer is that nobody knows how long something will take, that is what the page says.
What this site is not
This is not medical advice. Nothing here should be used to make decisions about your own treatment or anyone else's.
